My Hero Academia Volume 1 is sold out everywhere.

A Naruto spin-off/sequel will run in spring 2015. It will be a short series lasting 3 volumes at the most.

Everyone but the one-shot’s writer mentions Kishimoto or Naruto in their comments. The one-shot’s writer alludes to things, though.

One Piece goes a step further with their farewell. Something not mentioned in that link is that the names of the characters present start with Na, Ru and To in Katakana.

The Food Wars! anime runs in spring.

Japanese Issue 51 Info

Cover, Lead Colour: Takujo no Ageha (New Series)
Center Colour: Hinomaru Zumō, Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma, Isobe Isobee Monogatari

Takujo no Ageha is by Furuya Itsuki and is about ping pong. It is based on a one-shot of the same name.

There’s also apparently some sort of one-shot in this issue.

Japanese Issue 52 Info

Cover, Lead Colour: E-Robot (New Series)

The “E-Ro” in E-Robot is apparently meant to be read “ero” (Japanese for perverted). It’s by Ryōhei Yamamoto and is based on the one-shot of the same name. The one-shot was fanservice-heavy, including a scene of what looked like the robot breastfeeding the protagonist when I skimmed through some images.

Japanese Issue 1 Info

Cover, Lead Colour: Gekkyū Hōtei (New Series)

Gekkyū Hōtei is a relaunch of a series of the same name that ran in Jump Live. The writer, Enoki Nobuaki, returns. Takeshi Obata is joining in for the relaunch as the artist.

Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma (Cover, Lead Colour, New to Lineup, Anime Announcement)
World Trigger
One-Punch Man
Nisekoi: False Love
Hi-Fi CLUSTER (Two Chapters)
Naruto (Lead Colour, Jump Back)

The thing with the editors talking about how Naruto affected them continues here.

Food Wars! gets a very basic outline, just explaining the series’ premise and the ongoing Fall Classic arc, then giving very short descriptions of Soma, Megumi, Erina, Ryo and Akira. How short are the descriptions? Well, Ryo’s connection to Alice is left out and they don’t mention Megumi’s specialty. That short.

This week’s Nihongo Lesson is more Naruto stuff: “saigo”, “itai” and “akirameru”.

  1. Just came upon your blog for the first time. Do you ever discuss or comment on the implications of the Jump rankings? Like which newcomers seem to be doing well/in danger/certain to be canceled, or how the mid-length or veteran manga are doing… Just wondering.

    • I do sometimes, but only when something noteworthy happens. Veterans holding pattern and newbies crashing down, sadly, isn’t noteworthy, so I haven’t had much to talk about lately.
