Three months of news collecting before I could get this at a decent length. It’s time for a rundown!

Fire Emblem if Promo Image

  • XSEED has announced a localization of Lord of Magna: Maiden Heaven. Additionally, websites have been registered for Trails of Cold Steel (likely the title for Sen no Kiseki) and Xanadu Next.
    • Ys 6 and Akiba’s Trip: Undead and Undressed will be released on PC. Akiba’s Trip is a new port while Ys 6 is an only port with a new translation.
  • Nintendo has done a whole bunch of things.
    • They’ve left Brazil due to lack of market share.
    • They gave Marth an English voice for Codename S.T.E.A.M., which may signal the end of using his Japanese voice worldwide.
    • Club Nintendo is in the process of closing down.
    • Nintendo is working with DeNA to make mobile games. They will continue to make new consoles. Their next system is codenamed the NX.
    • The new Fire Emblem game, Fire Emblem if (pictured above) has three campaigns, the first two are separate games (the other being DLC), with the third being DLC. You will have to pick between the family that birthed you and the family that raised you, with the third campaign being an unspecified third option.
      • Picking the one you were born to makes an easier game and the usual Fire Emblem story, along with the world map feature.
      • Picking the family that raised you makes the game harder and the usual map-to-map gameplay.
      • So, are you on Team Nii-sama (the one you were born to) or Team Onii-chan (the one that raised you)? Yes, you have a little sister on each side. There are exclusive party members for the obvious reason that the two sides are at war with each other. Also, the protagonist is a manakete (the dragon transformation class) this time.
    • The Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei crossover game has become Illusory Revelations♯FE, which is more of an original title with influences from both.
    • The 3DS amiibo reader for people without a Wii U or new 3DS will, in fact, be released.
    • The Wii U Fatal Frame game will be localized.
    • The Wii U has gotten Virtual Console support for DS, N64.
  • Idea Factory International has been cleaning up their act. Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth2 launched without significant issues, same with the remaining titles.
    • Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart was rated for PC alongside the Vita rating, but this was later confirmed to be just in case, no plans for an actual port.
    • Blanc’s spin-off title will be an action multiplayer title where they fight a zombie army. It will be on Vita.
    • A crossover game with the Sega Hard Girls franchise was also announced. It will also be for Vita.
    • Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 was released on Steam to great reception.
    • Compile Heart is hiring a large amount of new staff for Neptunia and other RPGs.
  • NIS America will be releasing Rodea the Sky Soldier in English, including the Wii version for early purchasers.
  • Tales of Zestiria released in Japan to a large amount of complaints, some valid and some dubious, which I will not be repeating here (look it up).
    • The game also had PS4 and PC ports leaked.
  • tri-Ace was purchased by a mobile game company, but said company intends to maintain their console presence.
  • Vertical has licensed Kizumonogatari, with the intention to get all of the novels in the Monogatari series.
  • A new Dissidia: Final Fantasy game is in production for Japanese arcades.
  • Danganronpa 3 is currently in development.
  • The producer of Senran Kagura is working on a new IP named Valkyrie Drive.
  • Hideo Kojima has left Konami.
  • Unreal Engine 4 is now free to use without subscription, but it has royalty costs on finished games as per usual.
  • Sega of America has restructured and moved to a smaller office, dropping a lot of staff and intending to focus more on mobile and PC in the future. This is due to having few successes in the console space other than Sonic.
