Well, time for Rundown the Street! Let’s see what’s been going on over the past season…

  • The 17th Atelier game, Atelier Sophie ~The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book~ has been announced for PS3, PS4 and Vita.
    • Yoru no Nai Kuni (English title undecided) will be released for the West as PS4-only. The Vita version has been put under reconsideration after people complained.
    • Toukiden: Kiwami has been released on PC, being the first of its genre to do so.
    • In less positive news, it has been confirmed via Twitter that the prequel to Ar nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star, titled Ciel nosurge, will never leave Japan. This is likely due to the sheer scope of the translation effort required.
  • Tales of Zestiria will release on PS4 and PC in the West.
    • Tales of Berseria is in development, with a female lead.
    • There will be a 20th anniversary anime of some kind for the series.
    • Digimon World: Cyber Sleuth will release for the West on PS4. Sub-only and digital-only.
  • Nintendo president Satoru Iwata is dead. Other people have given the man far better sendoffs than I could ever hope to manage. He has been succeeded by Tatsumi Kimishima. Given his age, he’s likely there to hold Nintendo steady until someone younger can take over.
    • Earthbound Beginnings suddenly found itself released for Wii U Virtual Console. This is Mother 1.
    • Other titles Nintendo announced at E3 include Mario & Luigi: Paper JamAnimal Crossing: amiibo FestivalThe Legend of Zelda: Triforce HeroesHyrule Warriors Legends, and the very divisive Metroid Prime: Federation Force.
    • The regular-sized Nintendo New 3DS has been brought over as part of a limited edition bundle for Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer. Stores run by Nintendo have imported faceplates for it on their shelves.
    • Pikmin 4 was abruptly announced one morning.
  • Azure Striker Gunvolt has been ported to PC, uncut. A patch to do the same to the 3DS version is allegedly in the works, but has yet to materialize.
    • GalGun will be heading West, but no information on a publisher or Western title has been decided.
  • XSEED has announced that they will be releasing both parts of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel (Sen no Kiseki) for PS3 and Vita in the West. The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC will release shortly before Cold Steel at the current rate.
    • XSEED will also release Senran Kagura: Estival Versus, having recently released Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson.
    • Senran Kagura has exceeded one million sales worldwide.
  • Ace Attorney 6 has been announced, and it was quickly announced for the West as well.
    • An anime for the series has been announced for the Spring 2016 anime season.
  • Megadimension Neptunia VII will release in the West in 2016.
  • Zero Escape fans were made very happy by an announcement for a final title for the series.

  • E3 announcements from Sony included The Last GuardianHorizon, and PlayStation VR game RIGS. They will also help with Shenmue 3.
    • We’ve recently learned the price of the PlayStation VR, and it’s close to the PS4’s price. It will launch next year, close to its competitor, the Oculus Rift.
    • Gravity Rush 2 will be exclusive to PS4. There will also be a remaster of the original for PS4, and an anime is incoming.
    • Sony is on record saying that the market conditions will not allow a third handheld from them.
  • Also at E3, Square Enix announced a remake of Final Fantasy 7, as well as World of Final Fantasy, a new Hitman game and Project Setsuna.

  • Developer SNK Playmore have been bought out by a Chinese company.
  • Like Moe Chronicle before it, Moero Crystal will receive an Asian English release.
  • Pokkén Tournament has had the rather obvious Wii U release confirmed.
    • Two men carrying a lot of guns were arrested near the Pokémon World Championships this year after making threats on Facebook and driving the guns across state lines. The two men were allegedly high in sodium after losing at the event the previous year, and earned invites to this year’s event until they were removed after this incident.
  • A Shovel Knight amiibo was announced.
  • GameStop has announced that they will refuse to stock console bundles that contain digital game codes. If the trend continues, they claim they will partner with publishers to arrange physical games to bundle with consoles on their own.
  • The Love Live! movie has outperformed the Madoka Magica movies and the K-On! one. This should be no surprise to anyone.
