Atelier Sophie Art

  • Atelier Sophie ~The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book~ has been announced for localization in June. It will release for PS4 and Vita, the PS3 version will not come over.
    • When asked about a potential Plus version, Koei Tecmo Europe confirmed that there is none planned.
  • The PlayStation TV has quietly gone out of print in the West. Reports initially stated it went out of print in Japan and Asia, but Sony denied that while stating it’s in the West that it went out of print.
    • Similarly, the PSN storefront for the PSP is shutting down in North America, as in Japan. Games can still be re-downloaded, and purchases can still be made via the PC version of the store.
    • Rumours have surfaced regarding a stronger PS4 in the works.
  • Symphogear is going strong, having not only a fourth season announced, but a fifth one as well as a video game.
  • The battle of virtual reality is going strong. The Oculus Rift’s price tag has been revealed to be $599 in the United States, higher in other countries. PlayStation VR will launch for $399. The first printings of both have sold out.
    • The PSVR apparently has over 100 games in development, and its release was held back to bolster its launch lineup.
    • And speaking of virtual reality, IBM Japan, of all companies, is working on a Sword Art Online game for VR platforms.
  • Various Funimation anime licenses have expired, mostly from Aniplex as they now have their own branch. Notable ones include Fullmetal Alchemist.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions

  • The Shin Megami Tensei crossover with Fire Emblem has received an English title of Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE. It will release with Japanese voice only, but will receive costume censorship.
    • Speaking of which, Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE has bombed in Japan, selling quite low out of the gate. It has failed to chart since its first week, but it is slowly selling more copies.
  • A new Kirby game, Kirby: Planet Robobot, has been announced.
    • In other Nintendo news, Miyamoto’s Project Guard is releasing as a Star Fox spin-off, Star Fox Guard, featuring Slippy. There are no plans for Project Giant Robot.
  • The seventh generation of PokémonPokémon Sun and Moon, have been announced.
    • The main series has reached 200 million copies. With spin-offs, 279 million.
  • Microsoft has announced plans to merge its Xbox One and Windows 10 gaming platforms, and plans to make stronger versions of the Xbox One.
  • Ubisoft is skipping Assassin’s Creed for a year after the reception and overall glitchiness of recent entries.
  • Netflix has somehow managed to get streaming rights for Case Closed! under its Japanese title, Detective Conan.
  • Yandere Simulator has been banned for streaming on Twitch.
  • Trails of Cold Steel II will be released in English this fall. Trails in the Sky the 3rd will be localized in 2017.
  • A Steam glitch over Christmas accidentally revealed seemingly-random customer information on Christmas day. The glitch was fixed, but it took a while for any official statement to be issued.
